Topics include the WWII home front, military service, post-war experiences, personal relationships, and 28th U.S. Infantry Division reunions. Several of Montgomery's correspondents write of leading a homosexual lifestyle while in the service and the necessity of returning to a straight lifestyle after leaving the army. Carl B. Montgomery was born 23 January 1921 in Washington, Pennsylvania. He entered the Army in 1940; served in Company H; and later, was in Service Company, 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division as photographer, editor of the regimental paper, and chaplain's assistant. Montgomery was captured at the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and was held as a prisoner of war (POW) until April 1945 when he was released to a hospital in England.
